Meet the Directors

Deborah Divine




Deborah Divine began her choral teaching career in 1972 during a summer arts camp when the director of the choir she was accompanying took a break and asked her to “take over.”  She has never looked back.  Thirty-four years later she continues to teach vocal music and the piano lab at Enterprise High School in Redding, California. where she has worked for twenty years.  In the ensuing years since that fateful summer day Deborah  earned a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance as well as a Single Subject Music Credential from San Francisco State University and  a Masters in Vocal Performance from Chico State University.  Her first “real” teaching job was at the prestigious Hamlin School For Girls in San Francisco followed by a itinerate position in the Redding Elementary Schools, and a half-time position with Shasta Community College before taking a full-time job with the Shasta Union High School District.  Deborah has also enjoyed a nearly parallel career as a professional vocal soloist ,maintained  a private vocal and piano studio ,and  directed musicals both in San Francisco and Redding.  Professional educational honors include Shasta County Teacher-Of-The-Year in  2002, the CMEA North Section Teacher-of-the Year in 2003.. CMEA California Choral Director-Of-The-Year in 2007,  Northern California Band and Choral Directors Association Teacher-Of-The-Year for 2008, and was selected as a “Director Of Note” in the January 2008 issue of “Choral Director.”  Her choral groups have consistently been awarded Superior Ratings and the Enterprise A Cappella Choir was a featured group at the CMEA State Convention in 2006 along with the Victorian Carolers. Other vocal honors include being selected as a co-winner of a” Downbeat” magazine award in 2003 for best High School Vocal Jazz Group.  Her favorite hobby is decorating Wedding cakes.

Dan Neece 


   

Daniel Neece is a graduate of California State Long Beach where he majored in both instrumental and vocal music. He graduated with distinction from California University at Chico where he received his Master’s of Arts degree with an emphasis in arranging and conducting. He holds life credentials in music and mathematics. He is a member of the International Association of Jazz Educators, the California Band Director’s Association and is a region representative for the California Music Educator’s Association.

Dan Neece has traveled with his Enterprise groups throughout California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington D.C.,Pennsylvania, Virginia, New York, and Florida, Oregon, and Hawaii.

Tours outside of the United States include: Mexico, Canada, Bahamas, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Holland. The EHS symphonic band, Jazz bands and Show choir have taken superior ratings for the past 26 years.

Mr. Neece directs two bands, two jazz bands, drum corps, three instrumental ensembles and “Enterprise Starship” show choir with live instrumental accompaniment. He is an instrumental and vocal arranger and composer and is in demand as a clinician and adjudicator. He has received several awards for musical achievements and was named “Northern California Music Educator of the Year” by the California Music Educator’s Association in 2002. In 2004 he was named the Redding East Rotary Teacher of the year and in 2005 the Shasta County Teacher of the Year. In 2006 he was named California Band director of the year and was profiled as one of California’s leading band directors in the October, 2006 issue of School Band and Orchestra Magazine. More recently he was voted as one of 10 top teachers in Redding, according to a poll by Enjoy Magazine.
